He taught at Columbia University and the University of Chicago, served as chairman of the Encyclopedia Britannica board of editors..

Louis Agassiz (1807-1873) was a Swiss-born American naturalist, geologist, and teacher who made revolutionary contributions to the study of natural science with landmark work on glacier activity and extinct fishes. He achieved lasting fame through his innovative teaching methods, which altered the character of natural science education in the United States.

Kenneth Laurence “Kenny” Baker was an American singer and actor who first gained notice as the featured singer on radio’s The Jack Benny Program during the 1930s. He appeared in seventeen film musicals and also Broadway productions.

He became a Christian Science practitioner and motivational speaker, and recorded a number of albums especially for inspiration from Bible verses and Mary Baker Eddy’s “seven hymns” taken from “Poem’s” one of the 17 books written by her. One of these “seven hymns” are sung each Sunday in Christian Science churches throughout the world.

There seems to be no better way to convey the “deeper spiritual insight” of Mary Baker Eddy in her “Poems” and Bible verses than through Soul manifesting itself as world-renown vocalist, Kenny Baker.

CLARA BARTON, founder of the AMERICAN RED CROSS, said that she looked upon MARY BAKER EDDY as the one person, regardless of sex, living today, who has done the greatest good for her fellow-creatures, and that Christian Science itself is the most remarkable as well as the most potent factor in religious life.  Clara Barton herself was considered to be a philanthropist, a humanitarian, a patriot, “a great American woman who devoted her life to the good of humanity”.

“A Little Voyage Amid the Symbols” by David N. Baxter, relating the lions to specific Bible verses, reveals the hidden symbols in the two famous paintings of “Daniel” (1872) and “Daniel’s Answer to the King” (1890) by master artist Briton Rivière.

Ann Beals is a life-long Christian Scientist. Her family came into Christian Science through a healing she had before she was a year old. Doctors could not diagnose the illness or cure it. She seemed about to pass on when her mother called in a Christian Science practitioner who prayed for her until she regained consciousness. Within a short time she was completely healed. Her parents then took up the study of Christian Science and the family attended First Church of Christ, Scientist in Louisville, Kentucky. During her early years she had several healings of extremely serious illnesses through reliance on Christian Science. In time her father, Harry Smith, became a Christian Science teacher and lecturer.

Glenn Lee Beck (born February 10, 1964) is an American conservative political commentator, radio host, entrepreneur, and television producer. He is the CEO, founder, and owner of Mercury Radio Arts, the parent company of his television and radio network TheBlaze.

What is ‘’The Foundation for the Science of Being”?

This nonprofit educational ’Foundation’ is wholly devoted to the advancement of the scientific understanding of Mary Baker Eddy’s stupendous divine revelation in its spiritual, scientific constituency; and, to the unfoldment of the profound magnitude of her discovery of divine Love as the “sovereign panacea” (S&H 407) —the “universal solvent” (S&H 242) enveloping and blessing all mankind.

The Foundation for the Science of Being was established in 1999 by Sue Bissonnette (following the closing down of the Kappeler Institute’s decades long teaching program, and just prior to Dr. Kappeler’s passing) at the turn of the millennium.

The spiritual momentum within the subject did not cease nor abate at that time, and it needed a new vehicle—a form for its ongoing presentation and dissemination. Through the auspices of the ‘Foundation,’ from the late 90’s forward, Sue Bissonnette continued ongoing classes with a core body of  devoted students, continuing to further plumb the depths of this constantly unfolding and evolving understanding of Christian Science.

Peggy M. Brook attended the Christian Science Sunday School from the age of five, and was first inspired by the Pure Science of Christian Science when, in 1937, she became secretary to John W. Doorly working for him in that capacity and later as his assistant for thirteen years. Peggy M. Brook was the Trustee for the Writings of John W. Doorly, Director of The Foundational Book Company, and joint Editor of the periodicals Metaphysical Notes (l947·1951) and Ideas of Today (1951- 1977). For nearly sixty years she devoted her life to the study and practice of Christian Science, as well as giving a large number of talks and Summer Schools on the Science of the Bible and publishing writings on this subject. Her talks and publications have always stressed the impersonality as well as the warmth of Science, blending the letter with the spirit.

Warren Brookes (see more bio pgs 10-12 of publication) "earned a degree in economics from Harvard in 1952 and upon graduating with honors took a job in the marketing department of Kimberly-Clark. He went on to work for Cryovac (a subsidiary of W.R. Grace & Co.), Kenyon and Eckhardt (advertising, and the Christian Science Monitor (promotions director) before beginning his career in journalism in 1975. He began as a reporter for the Boston Herald and ten years later took a position on the editorial staff of The Detroit News, a post he held until his [passing]. He also wrote two columns per week for Creators Syndicate, a special weekly column for the Washington Times, and freelance articles for Forbes and other magazines."

Clara Armitage Brown wrote prolifically for the periodicals. Between 1933 and 1971, she had 65 articles published in the Journal and Sentinel. She became a Christian Science Teacher during this time.  Her association addresses are very inspiring in that each one focuses on one subject and covers it in great detail. These addresses are refreshing sources for new and deeper insights into many subjects relating to demonstrating the Science of God.

Mr. W. Gordon Brown was a long time student of Christian Science. He was a student of John Doorly, a pioneer into the research of the Science of the Bible and the Science of Christianity. He was part of a team led by Mr. Doorly in this research. Included are 16 PDF & 100 MP3. 

Marya Brunson has devoted herself to the study of the science of Christian Science for most of her adult life, studying with such master teachers as Dr. Max Kappeler, W.  Gordon Brown, and John L. Morgan, as well as receiving Christian Science class instruction.

She has taught, lectured and given workshops on the science of Christian Science throughout the United States, sharing her understanding of its divine system, emphasizing the laws of the Model of Being. 

Gilbert C. Carpenter Sr. CSB came into Christian Science in 1894. Mr. Carpenter served Mrs. Eddy in many special ways. He was an Executive Member of The Mother Church, and chairman of the building committee for the Extension. From March 1905 to March 1906, he served her as an Associate Secretary at Pleasant view.

It is nearly 10 years now since our beloved Leader, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Rev. Mary Baker Eddy has passed from our sight. Since there are many Christian Scientists everywhere who did not have the privilege of knowing our Leader personally, it has been represented to me that it would be of use to them if the recollections of one who was her student were put down in writing. Therefore, I shall try to tell some of the experiences which I had with her, and some of the precious recollections of her which I shall cherish always in my heart. It is my dearest hope and wish that some day these may come into the hands of those students of Christian Science who will find in them help on their path "from sense to Soul."

The second of three daughters born to a Minneapolis realtor and his English-born wife, Marchette Chute studied at the Minneapolis School of Art before earning her B.A. from the University of Minnesota in 1930. After her father's passing in 1939, Chute moved to a Manhattan apartment with her mother and younger sister, novelist Beatrice J. (B. J.) Chute. 
Chute's diligently researched reconstructions of the lives of Shakespeare and Chaucer have contributed a great deal to scholarship about the ages in which they wrote.

J.W.S. Cox was a formidable, innovative watercolorist who is known for having invented the wet-on-wet watercolor technique (immersing paper in water and painting wet watercolor pigments onto the wet  paper, so that the pigments could spread and take on a "life" of their own.

In 1936, Cox studied in Paris at the Academie Colarossie and for one year with Fauvist Othon Friesz (1879-1949) in an atelier on rue de la Grande Chaumiere. He returned to Boston fluent in 14 languages.

Christian Science Practionioner

Adam H. Dickey was born in Toronto, Canada, in 1864. During the latter part of the 1800’s the Dickey family moved to Missouri. Mr. Dickey became interested in Christian Science after he witnessed its healing effects. Both he and his wife, Lillian S. Dickey, entered the healing ministry in Kansas City, Missouri, and became listed as Christian Science practitioners in The Christian Science Journal in 1900. Two years later they went through Normal Class with Edward A. Kimball, and became teachers of Christian Science. Soon afterwards they opened the Intra-State Christian Science Institute, with offices in both New York City and Kansas City.

Emma Dunn appeared onstage in her early teens, graduating to the London stage for several years and later became a noted Broadway actress. She wrote two books on elocution and speech: Thought Quality in the Voice (1933) and You Can Do It (1947). The broad scope of Mrs. Dunn’s talents, coupled with her love for Christian Science, gave her an extraordinary insight into reading the Bible aloud. Her family came originally from England, and she and her brother grew up a few blocks from Central Park in New York City. She be- came a truly great artist in the theater on Broadway and a great Christian Science healer. In her book, “You Can Do It!” Emma tells how the theater was in her case the primary school, and how all she learned through many years of acting converged toward this one point: reading the Bible aloud. Panel discussion on Mary Baker Eddy Fulfills Prophecy by Fernand E. d’Humy. This is the topic of this most important panel discussion The Stone The Builders Rejected: On December 1, 1910, Mrs. Eddy went for her last drive. When she returned she asked for her writing pad. MARY BAKER EDDY is the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, author of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, a bestseller since the first edition in 1875. The book was deemed one of the 75 Books By Women Whose Words Have Changed The World. Verified detailed healings credited by the readers state the healings were the result of only reading Science and Health.  These healings are published in this book covering over 100 pages. Mary Baker Eddy is also the founder of the 6 Pulitzer Prize winning Christian Science Monitor and author of numerous other publications read by millions every year.

Einstein was genuinely humble and admitted when he saw Christian Science demonstrated it was certainly scientific in principle and was effective when applied scientifically.

Thus, Einstein began to read Mrs. Eddy’s writings with “new wonder” and an open mind. His discussions were far apart from “human and scientific ties of the past” he had “bridged the gap” from physics to metaphysics in his own intellectual approach to Christian Science, often using scientific statements he had learned from reading and studying Mrs. Eddy’s writings. 

Mr. Eustace, an authorized teacher and practitioner of Christian Science for many decades, was a student of Edward A. Kimball, C.S.B., the first Lecturer of Christian Science. Mrs. Eddy specifically selected Mr. Kimball for this important fledgling task. Both Mr. Kimball and Mrs. Eddy became aware of Mr. Eustace's natural proclivity for spiritual metaphysics and its successful application during his two class instructions, Primary Class and Normal Class, with Kimball, both of which were under Mrs. Eddy's direction.  He was the only student Kimball and Eddy ever found who wanted to take advanced class instruction, not so he could teach Christian Science, but specifically to better understand the machinations of animal magnetism, or malicious mental malpractice – an area of study of which Mrs. Eddy once remarked, “Where all students have failed is in not knowing how to handle animal magnetism.” (OV 383)  The One Volume is the complete record of Mr. Eustace’s class teaching in Christian Science plus his other articles on spiritual concepts successfully practised during his years in the public practice of Christian Science.

Dr. Fluno was a homeopathic doctor before he found Christian Science in 1884, at which time he abandoned his profession to become a Christian Science practitioner. After taking class with Mrs. Eddy in 1885, he and Mrs. Fluno located permanently in Oakland, California, where he was a practitioner, teacher, and pastor of the local Christian Science church. He was appointed by Mrs. Eddy to lecture on Christian Science throughout the United States. He served in this capacity from 1898 until 1919. Both the life and the papers of this extraordinary man are an inspiring example of Christian Science lived and demonstrated.

James Franklin Gilman was selected by Mary Baker Eddy to prepare the valuable drawings for Christ & Christmas.

Mr. Gilman was a self-taught artist who travelled to make artwork of landscapes and farms in places like Vermont, Wilmington and Burlington. He was known for painting or sketching farms in exchange for room and board. 

FATHER HEALED OF PNEUMONIA:
In 1915, Joel's father became critically ill with pneumonia while in England and word was sent to the Goldsmith family to come for the body. However, according to Joel, his father was healed by a Christian Science practitioner in London.  When his father unexpectedly recovered, Joel began to ask questions about the existence and nature of God and to began to educate himself about Christian Science. 

Doris Grekel is a life-long Christian Scientist. “For many years the author has been seeking to know Mrs. Eddy and to learn her holy history. Though she feels she has little more than begun on this vast search, it has been rewarding beyond expectations. This research has convinced her that an understanding of the trials and triumphs of Mary Baker Eddy is essential for those who “would enter by the door”.

Because of his background in both the sciences and Christian Science, Mr. Haw could see how the sciences are gradually developing rudimentary ideas found in Christian Science. He lived in Natal, South Africa. He was educated at the University of Natal, and through private study with the University of South Africa. He had a varied career as research chemist, topographical surveyor, farmer, conservation and agricultural officer, teacher, headmaster, and public relations and media executive. He was a deeply dedicated Christian Scientist.

JULIA WARD HOWE was born in New York City in 1819 and passed on Portsmouth, Rhode Island in 1910. On her father's side she was descended from Roger Williams and two governors of Rhode Island. Her mother was the great grand niece of Revolutionary War legend Francis Marion (nicknamed "The Swamp Fox”). Julia's father, Samuel, was a successful Wall Street banker. Her mother, Julia, a published poet, died shortly after giving birth to her seventh child. The Ward children were left to the care of their father.  

May Rimes Hutson (known to her family and friends as Peggy) has been a student of the Bible from her youth. The Bible characters were her friends. Her parents were deeply religious. Her mother taught her to look to the sacred Word of Scripture for guidance, instruction, and healing. At an early age she began memorizing verses from Scripture, and in times of trouble these passages would come to her, like angels, to strengthen and comfort her.

Through spiritual sense you can discern the heart of divinity, and thus begin to comprehend in Science the generic term man. Man is not absorbed in Deity, and  man cannot lose his individuality, for he reflects eternal Life; nor is he an isolated, solitary idea, for he represents infinite Mind, the sum of all substance. 

In divine Science, man is the true image of God. The divine nature was best expressed in Christ Jesus, who threw upon mortals the truer reflection of God and lifted their lives higher than their poor thought-models would allow, — thoughts which presented man as fallen, sick, sinning, and dying. The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea, — perfect God and perfect man, — as the basis of thought and demonstration. In December of 1975, members of the Christian Science Church received a shocking letter telling of the corrupt and immoral conditions at the Church headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts. It was the first of eleven letters that reached the Field over the coming years. It was sent by a dedicated Church member, who was well aware of the conditions in Boston, and concerned over the decline in the movement that had been taking place for a number of years.

David Keyston was raised in Christian Science, but really did not appreciate the fuller understanding of this discovery and its Discoverer, Founder and Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, until reading Paul Smillie’s (pre-publication) book Mary Baker Eddy: The Historical and Prophetic Perspective, in 1984. 

Looking for a teacher to have Class Instruction in Christian Science, Reginald Kerry went to see Judge Fred- erick C. Hill in Los Angeles. Judge Hill was an outstanding Christian Science practitioner, teacher and lecturer. One day, the bus he was traveling on to go to a town where he was to lecture turned over and everyone was killed, ex- cept the Judge who woke up the next day in a hospital still saying, “There is one infinite Life, this Life is God, this Life is my life now.” He got up that morning and gave his lec- ture as scheduled. So, Reg went to Los Angeles to visit with the Judge, but as he put his hand on the doorknob, something said, “This is not your demonstration,” and he left.

RONALD KLETTE, while living in Johannesburg, South Africa, Mr. Klette left a career in banking to devote his time to the healing work. He was listed as a Christian Science practitioner in The Christian Science Journal in 1970. He also had a number of articles published in the Christian Science periodicals. In 1979, he withdrew his membership in The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts and in his branch church, after becoming disillusioned with the Church organization. He continued to practice and write as an independent Christian Scientist. He continued living in South Africa with his wife. 

BLISS KNAPP had an extraordinary career serving the Cause of Christian Science. Bliss was a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science, who served on the Bible Lesson Committee, and held the positions of President, Treasurer, and First Reader of The Mother Church. He wrote numerous articles for the Christian Science periodicals and authored the book The Destiny of The Mother Church.

Margaret Laird was one of the leading metaphysicians of our time. Like other forward-thinkers, Mrs. Laird was willing to follow wherever the premise "All Is Mind" might lead. 

Mrs. Laird was a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science in the Evanston/Chicago area for many years. Her teacher for her primary class as well as for her teacher's class in the Metaphysical College was Bicknell Young, a student of Edward Kimball. Her fidelity to the Science of Christian Science is unparalleled, and her refusal to compromise her presentation eventually put her out of the Christian Science organization. Her practice and teaching continued privately and then through The Margaret Laird Foundation.

In 1937 Mrs. Le Blond became a member of the Metaphysical College, also taught by Mr. Bicknell Young. Therefore, it will be clearly seen that our teacher had a most unique privilege in her teaching instruction in Christian Science, and thus in turn was able to give us this same unadulterated high quality. Ours, too, has been an unusual privilege, as the above facts indicate. Included are 22 PDF.

JOHN LLOYD MORGAN attended a Christian Science Sunday school for many years.  In 1939, not long after he left school, the Second World War was declared and he joined the British army, serving in the Far and Middle East.

He was discharged in 1944 having sustained injuries resulting in a paralyzed right arm. Late the next year he attended a series of talks on the Book of Revelation given by a former teacher and Practitioner of Christian Science.

During these talks his arm began to 'kick into life.' Several months later it was completely restored. This experience persuaded him to devote the next few years to serious study of the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.  Eventually he found himself in the healing practice of Christian Science and he also loved to encourage others to study these books.

Alice Lucile Cartwright Orgain was a student of Christian Science in New York City when Mary Baker Eddy was founding Christian Science on this planet. Mrs. Orgain was a practitioner listed in the Christian Science Journal and devoting her every moment to the study and practice of Christian Science.

General George Smith Patton, Jr. (1885-1945)  was born November 11, 1885 in San Gabriel, California. He became one of the United States most successful generals, despite being a complex character who was known for his quirky attitudes and behaviour. He played a leading role in the Allied operations in North Africa, Sicily and the liberation of Germany.

DR. ROBERT C. PUTNAM is a direct descend­ ant of John Putnam of Salem, Mass., and Aston Abbotts, Buckinghamshire. Edu­cated in Boston and Quincy, Mass., he obtained his Bachelor’s degree at Harvard University in 1936. Subsequently, he ob­tained a Master’s degree from Harvard and a Doctor’s degree from Boston Uni­versity.
His vocation as a research chemist has included positions as chief chemist, re­search director and supervisor of analyti­cal research. He is the author of several patents and technical articles.

Frederick L, Rawson was a pioneer in the field of the practical use of electricity and was an engineer of the first company in the field of electric lighting. He laid the first electric railway in England. He was also interested in other things and drew up plans for the first gas-driven automobile and was consulting engineer for the first air ship built in Britain. He had the respect of serious minded scientists of his day. He also excelled at various sports and was first violinist in an orchestra for more than a dozen years.

When I was in high school my mother experienced a wonderful healing as the result of prayer given by a Christian Science practitioner. It ushered our family into a new way of life. This healing experience along with many others is detailed in my book. Thereafter I attended regularly Christian Science services and in my adult years I taught in the Sunday School. 

Within the last few years I began an in-depth study of Christian Science leading me to question if the scientific world, particularly the physicists, had yet awakened to the ramifications of the universe as constructed by Mind itself, and the nothingness of matter. Reading some of the current books on the subject of physics, I found they most definitely had! They were even saying that a new religion was needed to accommodate their amazing findings. Now I knew that the religion for which they were searching was already established and well-proven.  It even had a textbook to explain it, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” written by a New England woman, Mary Baker Eddy.

Riviere was an animal painter, and was widely regarded as the successor of Landseer. He was also one of the few painters with an Oxford University Degree. He was the son of a well known artist. Riviere lived near to London Zoo, where he spent much time studying the physiology of animals.

You, as a Christian Scientist or indeed as any thoughtful man or women, will find the accompanying Story of vital interest although there is nothing of pure Christian Science in it. Jesus used parables to illustrate special points in his teaching of pure Christianity and this Story should be taken as a parable which illustrates perfectly the fact that hypnotic suggestion cannot deceive a mind which has fortified itself with the truth about any fact or circumstance which presents itself negatively.
In this account of Professor Herman von Scholtz?s research into hypnotism the point is brought out that he resisted every effort of the Hindu hypnotist to deceive him, as long as the suggestions came as abnormalities, as startling and unusual experiences, but was tempted to yield to the suggestions of normal hunger and thirst. To the Professor normal matter was real even though he had fortified himself against believing in any unusual manifestations which the Hindu adept might appear to conjure.

Frances Thurber Seal, was a divinely inspired practitioner and teacher in the early years of the Christian Science movement. She is best known for her book. Christian Science in Germany, first published in 1931.

William Shakespeare (1564 – 1616) was an English playwright, poet and actor. He is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon". 

Clara Shannon was one of Mrs. Eddy's most trusted and loyal students who served our Leader at her precious "Pleasant View." 

You might be interested in my background as a Christian Scientist. My grandfather on my father's side came into Christian Science over 110 years ago. He was in the last stages of diabetes and given six weeks to live by several doctors about 1896, and so took a trip to meet with a business associate to prepare to die. This man told him there was a church down the street where people were healed.

JOHN L. SINTON first became interested in Christian Science when his invalid mother had a remarkable healing. In 1926 he was a founding member of Fifth Church of Christ, Scientist, in Manchester, England, and in 1928 he attended John Doorly's Primary Class. In 1932, in the middle of the Great Depression, he gave up a promising career with the Ford Motor Company to become a full-time practitioner. After taking Normal Class from Bicknell Young in 1937, he taught primary classes in Manchester for nine years. A campaign of secret accusation and innuendo over alleged "incorrect" teaching finally led to his resigning from the Mother Church in 1946. 

Paul R Smillie was active in a local branch church, teaching in the Sunday School, and had a very successful practice with many patients over the years. In addition to his years as a practitioner, he taught Bible classes every Sunday evening for many years and also spoke regularly to a group of Jewish ladies about the Scriptures. As a spiritual watchman, he founded The Gethsemane Foundation so he could mail copies of the articles he wrote, free of charge, to a mailing list of between 7,000 to 10,000 people.

     MYRTLE SMYTH, has been a dedicated Christian Scientist since she found this Science as a young adult. She raised her five children in Belfast, North Ireland during the years when the fighting and terrorism was making headlines throughout the world. She later was listed as a practitioner in The Christian Science Journal and was then appointed to the Lecture Board of The Mother Church. As a very popular lecturer, she became well-known throughout the Christian Science field. When she was no longer allowed to lecture, she accepted invitations to give talks at various branch churches both in the United States and in other countries. She lived in the California for several years, during which recordings of her talks were in great demand. She then wrote two books summing up the main points in some of her talks.

Wherever there is a flare of general interest in any personality or his achievement, such as has been evinced by the readers of THE LIFE AND TEACHING OF THE MASTERS OF THE FAR EAST, you may be certain there is a flame of spiri­tual Truth accompanying it. 

Few in modern times have created such an interest as Baird T. Spalding, whose name became legend in metaphysical and Truth circles during the first half of the twentieth century. Few sensed the flame of spiritual inspiration sweeping the world as did Mr. Spalding. The nature of the man, the manner in which his message has been presented, and the Mes­sage all bear living testimony to the Truth of his words and the honor and sincerity of the man.

It is becoming well known that our thinking determines our experience. But when we are in need of help and healing, how do
we change how we think? This change comes when our understanding of Christian Science spiritualizes the inmost thoughts.
Through study and prayer we learn that we are each independently dependent on God for all things. He brings into our experience all the good that belongs to us. This spiritual enlightenment unfolds first in the heart of consciousness, and then objectifies itself in better health, greater supply, and happier relationships.

The author and compiler of this book, a retired civil and sales engineer and not a member of any church, was exceedingly skeptical when he first investigated the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, and was quite sure that many of her statements were ridiculous nonsense. Later, one of those “ridiculous” statements came into focus with a clear, self-evident meaning, a meaning higher than the surface meaning, and he was amazed at the simple yet profound spiritual idea and its far reaching implications. He knew that he had found a touch of the spirit of God, and that it was this spirit which had inspired Mrs. Eddy’s writings and also the books of the Bible. Many statements by Mrs. Eddy, however, continued to be impossible to believe, yet, subsequently the spiritual meaning usually would unfold and be understood. Thus, our ordinary human mind does not grasp the things of God. But our latent spiritual sense does.

All the publications represent deep research and a highly advanced level of spiritual reception to Truth which is shared in clear language and in a most humble manner to every serious seeker.

CLARENCE STEVES was a Christian Science teacher from 1948 through 1962. He served in the Navy in World War I, was severely wounded and spent a number of years in a Veterans Hospital. There a hospital nurse offered him a copy of Science and Health. He devoured it. The truth that awakened him was from page 228: 3-6, “ . . . that nothing inharmonious can enter being, for Life is God.”  His healing was complete.

     Richard H. Strain has served as a Christian Science Practitioner, First Reader in New York City, a frequent author of articles published in the Christian Science periodicals and as a guest speaker at Associations. 

Nikola Tesla is undoubtedly one of the most important inventors that have existed on our planet. Curiously, although he is one of the most important and scientific inventors in the history of civilization, he is also the most absent in history books.

Dr. Tutt was the youngest of seven children and under the tutorship of his father, a Baptist minister. He found Christian Science as a young child from a next-door neighbor, but did not accept it because many people in his town were being healed in Christian Science and were leaving his father’s church. He received his B.A. from William Jewel College and his M.D. from the University Medical College in Kansas City, MO, in 1900.

John Greenleaf Whittier (1807 – 1892) was an extraordinary American who lived in tumultuous times, putting his life on the front lines in the battle for equality and freedom for all people.

     It was about the year 1905, when we were living in Boston, that Sibyl Wilbur and I became friends. At that time the press was quite unfriendly toward Christian Science, and was especially antagonistic to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. But God was with us, and raised up a champion to defend Mrs. Eddy, and this champion was none other than our friend, Sibyl Wilbur.

MARTHA W. WILCOX worked for many years as a school teacher in Kansas, traveled with her husband to Kansas City, Missouri, in 1902, in search of medical help for his illness. When a business matter led her to the clerk of the Kansas City School Board, he suggested they try Christian Science and gave her a copy of Science and Health.

Howard Andrew Williams (December 3, 1927 – September 25, 2012) was an American singer. He recorded 43 albums in his career, of which 15 have been gold certified and three platinum certified. He was also nominated for six Grammy Awards. He hosted The Andy Williams Show, a television variety show, from 1962 to 1971, along with numerous TV specials. The Andy Williams Show won three Emmy Awards. He sold more than 45 million records worldwide, including more than 10 million certified units in the United States. 

Wentworth Byron Winslow was a Journal listed practitioner from 1906 to 1938. He wrote four books around one and the same theme, God: God can do it, God is doing it, God will do it and last Let God do it. This series on God and Christian Science healing are filled with a total of 123 short articles describing the revelations as they unfolded to the author. He uses parables and related healings to share the higher vision of the allness of God. One of the healings describes a young man that was pronounced dead on the operating table and was healed by the author. 

The contents of these volumes “are the out-croppings of parables, stories, and interpretations written or related by the author in his daily efforts for over a third of a century, to bring joy to the sorrowful, surcease to the suffering, healing to the sick, food to the hungry, and life to the dead; in other words to bring to seekers after Truth the vision of the Christ,–the light of Mind, whereby they too might behold the Kingdom of God, even as he himself beholds it.”               From Let God do it, p. vii.

Christian Science became a part of my life in the postwar 1940s, in Leipzig Germany, when the banning of Christian Science had been lifted all across Germany. It began with the healing of my mother, of a leg wound that neither the medical system, such as it was at the time, nor alternate healing methods could heal, but Christian Science did heal. In the background to the healing process, us kids were enrolled in Sunday School. An amazing world unfolded there.

Helen Marie Wright came in contact with Christian Science at the age of six when she witnessed wonderful healings in Christian Science. She saw her mother healed of blindness and her father healed of a disease that his doctors said was fatal, giving him only a few months to live. These healings made a profound impact on Mrs. Wright at a very young age.
Helen Wright devoted her life to the study of the writings of Mary Baker Eddy and to living and demonstrating Christian Science. She authored many books on Christian Science and along with her husband was the founder of the Mary Baker Eddy Science Institute.

'A LITTLE GEM' ~ Mrs. Eddy's recommendation from the Christian Science Sentinel of August 27, 1904, page 828:

ON THE WAY THERE ~ I recommend to Christian Scientists, and to all lovers of truth, to read the little book, On the Way There, by Katherine M. Yates. It is scientific, simple. It is an object lesson for each one of us to learn the meaning of this saying of our Master: 'Be ye therefore wise as serpents and harmless as doves.' Mary B. G. Eddy, Pleasant View Concord, N H August 18, 1904.

ALAN YOUNG is known and beloved the world over, having earned widespread acclaim in his profes­sional acting career in television and movies.  

As a past Christian Science lecturer, he is also well loved for his inspired and timely talks on a variety of spiritual top­ics. In this little book, written in the 1970s, but never before published, he relates his experiences with the Christian Science Board of Directors and the Boston­ based Mother Church organization.

First as Director of Communications for the Mother Church from 1968 to 1971, and then as a Chris­tian Science lecturer, Alan Young was engaged in a gentle but determined crusade to further the teachings of the Second Coming of the Christ, as found in the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, who fulfilled Jesus' prom­ise and prophecy to bring the "Comforter."

BICKNELL YOUNG was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1856 — the youngest of eleven children. His father, Joseph Young, was a brother of Brigham Young, and his family was prominent in the Mormon church.
