     MYRTLE SMYTH, has been a dedicated Christian Scientist since she found this Science as a young adult. She raised her five children in Belfast, North Ireland during the years when the fighting and terrorism was making headlines throughout the world. She later was listed as a practitioner in The Christian Science Journal and was then appointed to the Lecture Board of The Mother Church. As a very popular lecturer, she became well-known throughout the Christian Science field. When she was no longer allowed to lecture, she accepted invitations to give talks at various branch churches both in the United States and in other countries. She lived in California for several years, during which recordings of her talks were in great demand. She then wrote two books summing up the main points in some of her talks.

     The Christian Science Board of Directors objected to her talks and the sale of her books and recordings, and in  ........  time found an excuse to remove her card from the Journal as a practitioner. She was the first Scientist to give talks to the branch churches independently of the approval of the Directors.

     In 2005 she returned to her home in Ireland and retired from giving her talks.  Interest in her talks and recordings is intense for anyone familiar with the quality of them for she was an outstanding speaker, drawing large crowds to many of the talks she gave.Show all
