Christian Science and Christ and Christmas by Rolf A. F. Witzsche

INTRODUCTION
This book is dedicated in honor of Mary Baker Eddy, one of the greatest scientific geniuses of her time. Her stature as a world-historic person reflects a number of pioneering achievements that she is widely honored for, which have uplifted the face of civilization in numerous respects. She is noted for her dedication to advancing the status of women; for ennobling Christianity with a scientific dimension; for reinstating its nearly lost element of Christ- healing; for her discovering and founding of Christian Science, and the writing of its textbook;

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE became a part of my life in the postwar 1940s, in Leipzig Germany, when the banning of Christian Science had been lifted all across Germany. It began with the healing of my mother, of a leg wound that neither the medical system, such as it was at the time, nor alternate healing methods could heal, but Christian Science did heal. In the background to the healing process, us kids were enrolled in Sunday School. An amazing world unfolded there...

CHRIST JESUS

For two thousand years the prophets told of the coming Messiah. Finally he appeared and began his brief ministry.
In three short years he started a revolution which was to gather momentum and sweep the West. It destroyed Greek philosophy. It replaced barbarism with civilization. It provided a basis for Western culture. It gave answers where others could only ask questions. It emphasized Spirit rather than the flesh.

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

In John 17:4 Jesus said, “I have glorified thee on the earth. I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.” This is a remarkable statement. In three short years Jesus had completed his mission. His work was finished.

Did this mean that all revelation was complete? Not at all. In John 16:12 he said, “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.”

And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.

Woman’s Hour

True history is the record of the development in the human consciousness of a truer idea of God and man. This development has expressed itself affirmatively throughout the ages in every department of human endeavor. Its true meaning and intent is interpreted in the search of the human heart for freedom. Freedom is an abstract thing, even an ideal in the divine Mind, which is God. Its ultimate goal brings ‘the liberty of the sons of God’. Its message has come to the awakened thought of toiling, striving humanity in every age as the star of Bethlehem came to the awakened thought of the Wisemen of that day. Its human expression has assumed different forms as the world has step by step risen above one form of limitation and bondage after another. The warfare between science and superstition, between Christianity and the dogmatic religions of human creeds, between democracy and the divine right of kings, yea, between a higher freedom for humanity touching the hem of the garment of divinity and the limitations of selfishness and greed in all their forms, challenges the awakening thought of this age.

And God-the divine ever-present Love–made man in His own image and likeness. But the man of this world’s conception has passed by in his daily tasks oblivious to the fact that Love has always been more truly expressed by woman than by the masculine representative of manhood.
Woman in White
Her life is majestic in its serenity and confidence.
She is beholding the love that gathers all together, and leaves no one out.
She has the love that asks for nothing in return. It asks only to express itself.
The whole temple of her Being glows with the sovereign light of Divine Intelligence.

Her loving heart is bowing in the presence of divine unfolding.
She needs no external influence because she is fruitful from within.
She is careful not to wound where she should comfort.
She is careful not to pacify where she should challenge.
She is a precious jewel in the hands of the Lord.

She sheds her beauty on the rose.
In everything she does, she is making the spiritual practical.
She always maintains a confident expectation of good.
She knows that her inward holiness regulates her outward life.

Her light is always shining away the darkness of fear.
She knows that what she does not fear cannot possibly harm her.
She makes no deviation from the order prescribed by supernal grace.
Everyone loves her, because to see her is to love her.

Who is the Woman in White ?

We find her in the Book of the Bible, — “Revelation.”
“ST. John writes, in the tenth chapter of his book of Revelation: ‘And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud; and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire; and he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth.’

“And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.” (Revelation xii. 1.) See “Science and Health” page 558 through page 562.

Today, this Bible Prophecy has been fulfilled!
The “Little Book,” “Science and Health With Key (code) to the Scriptures — which is prophesied to complete the Master’s Work here on earth, is the Second Coming.
The Bible tells us: Woman encompasses man, in order to bring forth, to demonstrate the Oneness of our Father-Mother God.

In “Science and Health” Mary Baker Eddy defines this Woman of Bible as “Generic man,”— the Oneness of Father-Mother God. Everyone who hears God’s word, who understands it, and follows it’ is that One.

The Good News is that as we understand this teaching we too discern Generic man. This is our true identity as the “male and female” of God’s Creation.
