In December of 1975, members of the Christian Science Church received a shocking letter telling of the corrupt and immoral conditions at the Church headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts. It was the first of eleven letters that reached the Field over the coming years. It was sent by a dedicated Church member, who was well aware of the conditions in Boston, and concerned over the decline in the movement that had been taking place for a number of years. Reginald G. Kerry had been healed of cancer when he was eighteen years old. He had been told he would probably not see his twenty-fifth birthday. A week before his graduation from high school, he was invited to attend a Christian Science Sunday School. The Sunday School teacher, Mrs. Clara A. Marquette, asked the class of seven boys what the subject of the Lesson was that week. One said, “The subject is, ‘Is the Universe, Including Man, Evolved by Atomic Force?’” and he added, “The universe, including man, is evolved by God.” Reginald knew immediately that this answer was right, and he returned to Sun- day School every Sunday, until he was twenty. Looking for a teacher to have Class Instruction in Christian Science, Reginald Kerry went to see Judge Frederick C. Hill in Los Angeles. Judge Hill was an outstanding Christian Science practitioner, teacher and lecturer. One day, the bus he was traveling on to go to a town where he was to lecture turned over and everyone was killed, except the Judge who woke up the next day in a hospital still saying, “There is one infinite Life, this Life is God, this Life is my life now.” He got up that morning and gave his lecture as scheduled. So, Reg went to Los Angeles to visit with the Judge, but as he put his hand on the doorknob, something said, “This is not your demonstration,” and he left. Some time later, Reg attended a Christian Science Lecture by Mr. William Duncan Kilpatrick, C.S.B., of Detroit, Michigan, and he knew then that this was the teaching he had been looking for. He spoke with Mr. Kilpatrick’s secretary about Class Instruction, but was told that there was a waiting list for seven years before his application could even be considered. A year later, however, an opening occurred, and Reg had Class Instruction with a teacher he greatly admired.See Book Page 34 to 38 for complete Information View/Dnld
