The Life and Times of William Treadwell

Bill began his earthly life in Lake Chelan, Washington. His father was a Ford dealer and his mother was a homemaker. Bill attended Principia school in Missouri and the Lakeside school in Seattle.

He earned his first law degree from the University of Washington and later earned three more law degrees. He graduated with honors from Earth's Preparatory School. He was a law professor at Gonzaga University in Washington. He then became a member of the New Jersey Attorney  General's office and later was on the General Council staff, Washington, DC. Bill's law practice was across the street from the White House from where he defended two cases in the US Supreme Court.

Bill was a lifelong learner, avid fitness enthusiast, and sports fan. He loved history and specifically would write and publicly speak on his favorite subjects - the American Constitution and America's founding fathers.

Bill's family includes his brother Mowry, two sons Tyler and Whitney, two granddaughters Michelle and Sophia, and Julie his wife for the last 20 years, a truly one-of-a-kind leader and mainstay of the Institute.

Bill's book 'Mary Baker Eddy New Hampshire Native Daughter' is currently being published and will be available late Fall 2024.

As a lifelong Christian Scientist, Bill will be continuously remembered for his consistent and enduring dedication to Christian Science and the Mary Baker Eddy Institute.

Bill was tenacious to live by the Tenets of Christian Science;
Question. — Have Christian Scientists any religious creed? 
Answer. — They have not, if by that term is meant doctrinal beliefs. The following is a brief exposition of the important points, or religious tenets, of Christian Science: 
1. As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life. 
2. We acknowledge and adore one supreme and infinite God. We acknowledge His Son, one Christ; the Holy Ghost or divine Comforter; and man in God's image and likeness. 
3. We acknowledge God's forgiveness of sin in the destruction of sin and the spiritual understanding that casts out evil as unreal. But the belief in sin is punished so long as the belief lasts. 
4. We acknowledge Jesus' atonement as the evidence of divine, efficacious Love, unfolding man's unity with God through Christ Jesus the Way-shower; and we acknowledge that man is saved through Christ, through Truth, Life, and Love as demonstrated by the Galilean Prophet in healing the sick and overcoming sin and death. 
5. We acknowledge that the crucifixion of Jesus and his resurrection served to uplift faith to understand eternal Life, even the allness of Soul, Spirit, and the nothingness of matter. 
6. And we solemnly promise to watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus; to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be merciful, just, and pure. [SH 497]
