Christian Science Author ~ Reginald G Kerry ~ Biography and Publication Index
Biography by Eliane Grand Kerry
In December of 1975, members of the Christian Science Church received a shocking letter telling of the corrupt and immoral conditions at the Church headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts. It was the first of eleven letters that reached the Field over the coming years. It was sent by a dedicated Church member, who was well aware of the conditions in Boston, and concerned over the decline in the movement that had been taking place for a number of years. Reginald G. Kerry had been healed of cancer when he was eighteen years old. He had been told he would probably not see his twenty-fifth birthday. A week before his graduation from high school, he was invited to attend a Christian Science Sunday School. The Sunday School teacher, Mrs. Clara A. Marquette, asked the class of seven boys what the subject of the Lesson was that week. One said, “The subject is, ‘Is the Universe, Including Man, Evolved by Atomic Force?’” and he added, “The universe, including man, is evolved by God.” Reginald knew immediately that this answer was right, and he returned to Sun- day School every Sunday, until he was twenty. He never went back to medical help, but became a dedicated Christian Scientist. Many times he told how his entire family, one by one, came into Christian Science. “My mother took up the study of Christian Science after she saw how Timmy, our cat, was healed. Timmy was run over by a car and left on the road nearly dead. I took him and put him on a plank, which I pushed under the house. I went to my Sunday School teacher and asked her if Christian Science could heal my cat. She answered, ‘I certainly would not trust on me what I could not trust on my cat,’ and she said she would pray with me. When my dad found out that the cat was under the house barely alive, he took his rifle and wanted to shoot it. But I had pushed the board far enough so that he could not reach it. Every day I would fill a saucer of milk and find it empty the next day. After one week, Timmy walked out from under the house, his tail straight up in the air. My mother said she had seen a miracle, and she took up the study of Christian Science.
