Dr. Tutt was the youngest of seven children and under the tutorship of his father, a Baptist minister. He found Christian Science as a young child from a next-door neighbor, but did not accept it because many people in his town were being healed in Christian Science and were leaving his father’s church. He received his B.A. from William Jewel College and his M.D. from the University Medical College in Kansas City, MO, in 1900. In 1905, as a young adult, he acquired Science and Health and began to read. Dr. Tutt was healed in Christian Science of poor eyesight, stomach trouble, smoking, drinking, and gambling. His testimony can be read in the Christian Science Journal, June, 1911. His healings led him to seriously study Christian Science and resulted in him leaving the medical practice. In 1912 he became a Christian Science Practitioner. He served ........ as Committee on Publication for Missouri from 1915-1918 and became a Christian Science teacher in 1916 and Christian Science Lecturer in 1918. He lectured for 30 years and produced 18 full lectures, while traveling world-wide. He taught the Normal Class in 1943 which is part of the Christian Science Board of Education which trains new teachers of Christian Science. The class is held once every three years and is limited to 30 students. His primary teacher was Adam H. Dickey, CSD. One of Dr. Tutt's early cases as a practitioner was that of a kidnapped toddler in Kansas City. The little girl, Virginia McMath, later became known as Ginger Rogers, a Hollywood actress.Show all
