But as the past century drew to a close, the depth and scope of Christian Science as a scientific discovery became increasingly evident. As the physics of the twentieth century progressed, physicists learned that there was more to the universe than material cause and effect. The medical world began to see the relationship between the mind and physical illness. Statements by prominent names in the scientific and medical worlds revealed how close both were coming to the fundamental ideas found in Christian Science. Because of his background in both the sciences and Christian Science, Mr. Haw could see how the sciences are gradually developing rudimentary ideas found in Christian Science. He lived in Natal, South Africa. He was educated at the University of Natal, and through private study with the University of South Africa. He had a varied career as research chemist, topographical surveyor, farmer, conservation and agricultural officer, teacher, headmaster, and public relations and media executive. He was a deeply dedicated Christian Scientist. Mr. Haw's background and interest in the natural sciences, coupled with his consecrated study of Christian Science, enabled him to foresee how this Science would eventually be recognized as a scientific discovery, accurately defining th...e realm of Mind that underlies all things. The first part of this book focuses on statements by well-known physicists as to the mental nature of atoms and the universe. Mr. Haw quotes them to show how the discoveries in physics are proving Mrs. Eddy's statement that "all is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation." He then shows how the recognition that the human mind is the cause of all illness is moving doctors and psychologists towards the use of prayer as a healing power. This vision underlies most of his writings, including his book, Mindpower and the Spiritual Dimension. Mr. Haw's writings are among the first to promote Christian Science as a scientific discovery. This Science is far more than a religion that heals through prayer alone. It is destined to transform world thought as humanity continues to recognize the mental nature of man and the universe. It is inevitable that the mental concept will gradually evolve into the spiritual concept as we learn more about the Mind hidden in the unseen realm. Thus in time science and religion will become one and the same, and be known as Christian Science. The Spiritual Nature of Reality was written as an association address to be given to experienced Christian Scientists. Because his audience was familiar with the spiritual realm, Mr. Haw is especially forthright in the address when he relates the sciences to Christian Science. The healing experiences given towards the end of the book show Mr. Haw to be an outstanding Scientist who lived and demonstrated Christian Science in every way. Read more
