SOME KEY POINTS: FORGIVE: To pardon; to remit, as an offense or debt; to overlook an offense, and treat the offender as not guilty. The original and proper phrase is to forgive the offense, to send it away, to reject it, that is, not to impute it, [put it to] the offender. But by an easy transition, we also use the phrase, to forgive the person offending. FORGIVE us our debts. If we forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly father will also forgive you. Criticism ~ Dr. Francis J. Fluno
Criticism is fault-finding. It shuts you out of heaven. It will darken all your skies. It will keep you from demonstrating for yourself and others. It will bar you from progress. It leads you into all trouble. It leads you into all discord, into all unkindness, impatience, hard heartedness, unfriendliness—and finally into all evil, hatefulness envy. Just as long as that spirit of criticism remains in your thought, and you leave it there, just so long will not progress, just so long will you not be able to demonstrate, just so long will you not be able to find your way in Truth, because you will be looking for faults constantly. You are fault finding on a mortal, material plane. You will criticize everybody and everything. You will criticize people in every way —the clothes they wear, the way they walk, the way they talk and the way they enunciate, the way they pronounce their words, the way they sing, and everything they do in every possible way; and that is all you will do. If the spirit of criticism is abroad in your heart, it is growing. I do not say that it is there; but if it is, and it is not removed after being detected, it will, of course, remain there and grow. Then by aid by you will want to know why you do not understand and cannot demonstrate the Truth as you would like to. It is because you are finding fault with people—finding fault with what they do and say. You ae not looking for Truth and so are not finding Truth in what is done—but you are studying faults. Faults are what you are looking for, aid they are all you are thinking of. Criticism is the worst thing that you can get into your thoughts. It is one of the keys to perdition because it leads there. It leads to all unkindness; it leads into ingratitude; it leads into everything but love for your neighbors and friends. Anyone can criticize. I never saw a person so great an idiot, if he could talk at all, but he could find fault with others. Anyone can do it, and just as soon you let it enter your thought and leave it there, it will grow until you soon will think you are an elected critic —that is your mission, that is what you are here for, that is the work you are to do. Criticism is an awful thing. It never did any good and never will do any good. It never can, because it is all on a mortal plane, every bit of it. You are not helping others, you are not helping yourself. It does net belong to Christian Science for there is nothing Christian about it. There is not anything scientific about it, not one thing. I have seen it all my life; I have seen it from earliest childhood, and I know everyone of you has, and it is a thing that ought to be well looked into, to see whether you have it or not, because you are a student of Christian Science; you are a student of the Science of being. If you are studying that, you will progress in everything you do. Nothing you touch, but you will do well with it, because Christian Science leads to wisdom, love, kindness, and satisfaction. It leads the way to kindness to everyone, to helpfulness of everyone, and it will lead you to see opportunities and will open up opportunities to you that you never saw before in everything, in every walk of life, to become better in everything you do. Everything you touch will grow out of plainness before you; everything is elucidated, everything is made plain, and everything is made easy. There are no hard roads and no hard work. In fact, you will find no such thing as hard times, and no hard work to get along, if you are studying the great facts themselves. The great trouble is to let go of mortal sense and study Truth, study the facts of being. Do you think you have to hold on with one hand to mortal law and its way of living? If you will let go, you will find your living sure, and you will a better living and an easier life than you ever had before. We lose our sense of worry; we lose the worry of business; we lose the worry of finding business; we lose the thought of our body. You will then lose the thought of losing your life, of losing your health, because you ae growing into strength, life, health, freedom, because you are growing into true manhood a d womanhood. You ae growing to be better scholars of yourself and students of Christian Science. You are not students of the way people walk along the street, finding fault with the way they walk, with the cut of their dress, with the cut of their coat, finding faults with their habits, with their shortcomings, with their little faults and little feelings. You are students of Christian Science!Show all

Love Your Enemies ~ Misc Writings by Mary Baker Eddy ~ Pg 8 to 13
Who is thine enemy that thou shouldst love him? Is it a creature or a thing outside thine own creation? Can you see an enemy, except you first formulate this enemy and then look upon the object of your own conception? What is it that harms you? Can height, or depth, or any other creature separate you from the Love that is omnipresent good, — that blesses infinitely one and all? Simply count your enemy to be that which defiles, defaces, and dethrones the Christ-image that you should reflect. Whatever purifies, sanctifies, and consecrates human life, is not an enemy, however much we suffer in the process. Shakespeare writes: 'Sweet are the uses of adversity.' Jesus said: 'Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake; . . . for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.' The Hebrew law with its 'Thou shalt not,' its demand and sentence, can only be fulfilled through the gospel's benediction. Then, 'Blessed are ye,' inso much as the consciousness of good, grace, and peace, comes through affliction rightly understood, as sanctified by the purification it brings to the flesh, — to pride, self-ignorance, self-will, self-love, self-justification. Sweet, indeed, are these uses of His rod! Well is it that the Shepherd of Israel passes all His flock under His rod into His fold; thereby numbering them, and giving them refuge at last from the elements of earth. 'Love thine enemies' is identical with 'Thou hast no enemies.' Wherein is this conclusion relative to those who have hated thee without a cause? Simply, in that those unfortunate individuals are virtually thy best friends. Primarily and ultimately, they are doing thee good far beyond the present sense which thou canst entertain of good. Whom we call friends seem to sweeten life's cup and to fill it with the nectar of the gods. We lift this cup to our lips; but it slips from our grasp, to fall in fragments before our eyes. Perchance, having tasted its tempting wine, we become intoxicated; become lethargic, dreamy objects of self-satisfaction; else, the contents of this cup of selfish human enjoyment having lost its flavor, we voluntarily set it aside as tasteless and unworthy of human aims. And wherefore our failure longer to relish this fleeting sense, with its delicious forms of friendship, wherewith mortals become educated to gratification in personal pleasure and trained in treacherous peace? Because it is the great and only danger in the path that winds upward. A false sense of what constitutes happiness is more disastrous to human progress than all that an enemy or enmity can obtrude upon the mind or engraft upon its purposes and achievements wherewith to obstruct life's joys and enhance its sorrows. We have no enemies. Whatever envy, hatred, revenge — the most remorseless motives that govern mortal mind — whatever these try to do, shall 'work together for good to them that love God.' Why? Because He has called His own, armed them, equipped them, and furnished them defenses impregnable. Their God will not let them be lost; and if they fall they shall rise again, stronger than before the stumble. The good cannot lose their God, their help in times of trouble. If they mistake the divine command, they will recover it, countermand their order, retrace their steps, and reinstate His orders, more assured to press on safely. The best lesson of their lives is gained by crossing swords with temptation, with fear and the besetments of evil; insomuch as they thereby have tried their strength and proven it; insomuch as they have found their strength made perfect in weakness, and their fear is self-immolated. This destruction is a moral chemicalization, wherein old things pass away and all things become new. The worldly or material tendencies of human affections and pursuits are thus annihilated; and this is the advent of spiritualization. Heaven comes down to earth, and mortals learn at last the lesson, 'I have no enemies.' Even in belief you have but one (that, not in reality), and this one enemy is yourself — your erroneous belief that you have enemies; that evil is real; that aught but good exists in Science. Soon or late, your enemy will wake from his delusion to suffer for his evil intent; to find that, though thwarted, its punishment is tenfold. Love is the fulfilling of the law: it is grace, mercy, and justice. I used to think it sufficiently just to abide by our State statutes; that if a man should aim a ball at my heart, and I by firing first could kill him and save my own life, that this was right. I thought, also, that if I taught indigent students gratuitously, afterwards assisting them pecuniarily, and did not cease teaching the wayward ones at close of the class term, but followed them with precept upon precept; that if my instructions had healed them and shown them the sure way of salvation, — I had done my whole duty to students. Love metes not out human justice, but divine mercy. If one's life were attacked, and one could save it only in accordance with common law, by taking another's, would one sooner give up his own? We must love our enemies in all the manifestations wherein and whereby we love our friends; must even try not to expose their faults, but to do them good whenever opportunity occurs. To mete out human justice to those who persecute and despitefully use one, is not leaving all retribution to God and returning blessing for cursing. If special opportunity for doing good to one's enemies occur not, one can include them in his general effort to benefit the race. Because I can do much general good to such as hate me, I do it with earnest, special care—since they permit me no other way, though with tears have I striven for it. When smitten on one cheek, I have turned the other: I have but two to present. I would enjoy taking by the hand all who love me not, and saying to them, 'I love you, and would not knowingly harm you.' Because I thus feel, I say to others: Hate no one; for hatred is a plague-spot that spreads its virus and kills at last. If indulged, it masters us; brings suffering upon suffering to its possessor, throughout time and beyond the grave. If you have been badly wronged, forgive and forget: God will recompense this wrong, and punish, more severely than you could, him who has striven to injure you. Never return evil for evil; and, above all, do not fancy that you have been wronged when you have not been. The present is ours; the future, big with events. Every man and woman should be to-day a law to himself, herself, — a law of loyalty to Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. The means for sinning unseen and unpunished have so increased that, unless one be watchful and steadfast in Love, one's temptations to sin are increased a hundredfold. Mortal mind at this period mutely worksbin the interest of both good and evil in a manner least understood; hence the need of watching, and the danger of yielding to temptation from causes that at formerbperiods in human history were not existent. The action and effects of this so-called human mind in its silent arguments, are yet to be uncovered and summarily dealt with by divine justice. In Christian Science, the law of Love rejoices the heart; and Love is Life and Truth. Whatever manifests aught else in its effects upon mankind, demonstrably is not Love. We should measure our love for God by our love for man; and our sense of Science will be measured by our obedience to God, — fulfilling the law of Love, doing good to all; imparting, so far as we reflect them, Truth, Life, and Love to all within the radius of our atmosphere of thought. The only justice of which I feel at present capable, is mercy and charity toward every one, — just so far as one and all permit me to exercise these sentiments toward them, — taking special care to mind my own business. The falsehood, ingratitude, misjudgment, and sharp return of evil for good — yea, the real wrongs (if wrong can be real) which I have long endured at the hands of others — have most happily wrought out for me the law of loving mine enemies. This law I now urge upon the solemn consideration of all Christian Scientists. Jesus said, “If ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.’Show all

CHRIST JESUS
For two thousand years the prophets told of the coming Messiah. Finally he appeared and began his brief ministry.
In three short years he started a revolution which was to gather momentum and sweep the West. It destroyed Greek philosophy. It replaced barbarism with civilization. It provided a basis for Western culture. It gave answers where others could only ask questions. It emphasized Spirit rather than the flesh.

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST
In John 17:4 Jesus said, “I have glorified thee on the earth. I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.” This is a remarkable statement. In three short years Jesus had completed his mission. His work was finished.
Did this mean that all revelation was complete? Not at all. In John 16:12 he said, “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.”

Ideal Man & Woman
Genesis i. 27. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them. Ideal man and woman To emphasize this momentous thought, it is repeated that God made man in His own image, to reflect the divine Spirit. It follows that man is a generic term. Masculine, feminine, and neuter genders are human concepts. In one of the ancient languages the word for man is used also as the synonym of mind. This definition has been weakened by anthropomorphism, or a humanization of Deity. The word anthropomorphic, in such a phrase as 'an anthropomorphic God,' is derived from two Greek words, signifying man and form, and may be defined as a mortally mental attempt to reduce Deity to corporeality. The life-giving quality of Mind is Spirit, not matter. The ideal man corresponds to creation, to intelligence, and to Truth. The ideal woman corresponds to Life and to Love. In divine Science, we have not as much authority for considering God masculine, as we have for considering Him feminine, for Love imparts the clearest idea of Deity. True Success
Love ~ An important ingredient of true success [The divine Mind that is our true Mind will ultimately assert its absolute supremacy in every direction as we 'realize ourselves not [material] body but Soul,' and let 'Spirit or the power of divine Love bear witness to the truth, this is the ultimatum' (Science and Health 411:10). This calls for the evangelization of the human self. It calls for 'meekness and temperance [which] are the jewels of Love, set in wisdom' (Ret. 79:22).] True success depends on character, on integrity, loving kindness and loyalty, being trustworthy. Joy Cometh in the Morning
'Joy Cometh in the Morning' Nellie B. Mace From The Christian Science Sentinel, June 12, 1937 Vol. 39 No. 41 Page 803 In a familiar old hymn, based on Scriptural promise, runs the tender encouragement, 'O weary pilgrim, lift your head, For joy cometh in the morning.' This picture of the weary pilgrim traversing the night of sadness and, perhaps, hopelessness, aptly portrays the state of mind from which many an individual today surveys the world and his own place therein. Indeed, all men have been as pilgrims in the world, going forward, halting, falling, and maybe rising again and striving onward. Oftentimes, human pathways have run along pleasantly, as through sunny, flower-strewn meadows, or over easy hilltops of happy, satisfied ambitions. But to very, very many the pathway before them seems to lead through fens and thickets of difficulties and into the gloom of loss, sorrow, defeat. And, eventually, to each one comes the sense of helplessness before the supposedly inexorable laws of mortal existence. Throughout the history of monotheism, however, to earth's pilgrims have been given precious gleams of spiritual reality, and the Word of God has been uttered by patriarch and prophet and, above all, through the teaching of the master Christian, calling to the human consciousness to awake from the night of materialism and to behold the light of true being. Such faith in something better and more stable than appears in troubled human experience has led men onward, hoping, questioning, seeking, until in our own time one was prepared to receive a new revelation of Truth, which has been given to the world in Christian Science. Having discerned the Science underlying the Scriptural revelations, and particularly the teachings and works of Christ Jesus, this revelator, Mary Baker Eddy, declares with confidence on page 354 of her textbook, 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,' 'The night of materiality is far spent, and with the dawn Truth will waken men spiritually to hear and to speak the new tongue.' Christ Jesus promised that his followers should heal sickness and suffering, overcome sin and all in harmony, and 'speak with new tongues.' This new tongue Christian Science is speaking, in showing the spiritual meaning of the Scriptures, especially of the Master's teachings, which, through his mighty works, he proved to be true. This new revelation is as a morning enlightening the world, showing true existence to be wholly spiritual and harmonious, and making possible the demonstration of this fact in our present situation. Everyone is familiar with the glory of the morning light which dispels the shades of night, brings comfort to the weary, warmth to the unfolding flowers and ripening fields, or radiant beauty to snow-clad peaks. So welcome, so essential to men and to the land is the morning light that it is almost universally recognized as typical of the appearing of good. In the record of the true creation, in Genesis, successive evenings and mornings mark the appearing of spiritual ideas. And in Science and Health (p. 591 ) Mrs. Eddy in part defines 'morning' as 'symbol of Truth; revelation and progress.' Having caught some gleam of eternal facts and of the temporal nature of human discord, the Psalmist could well declare that 'weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.' The beauty of morning, spiritually understood as 'revelation and progress,' is that we can rejoice in it now, for in the realm of reality there is no night. No darkness of fear, hate, doubt, bitterness, can enter into the light of Truth. Inevitably, as spiritual understanding is gained, the false sense of darkness, the night of sadness, anxiety, rebellion, despair, loses its apparent reality and disappears. Nothing can hinder the coming of the morning of revelation; nothing can prevent the eventual passing of the night of materiality. Those who are seeking and finding God, who are laying aside false beliefs of reality in matter, are progressing toward a fuller understanding of eternal life. To prove these truths in small beginnings and then progressively in broader ways is to glorify God, of whom the Apostle John said, 'God is light, and in him is no darkness at all;' for God, unchanging Love, can know no evil. He holds and beholds His own creation in perpetual harmony, loveliness, perfection. Those students who find themselves standing alone in some dark hour know with what steadfastness they must keep their lamps burning, while they pray for more love, humility, and understanding, watching for the morning of 'revelation and progress.' They know that they cannot go backward into the darkness, and that they cannot pass through some Peniel, struggling to overcome material sense, adhering to Truth, without laying off more of the belief in materiality, more of the desire to cling to the mortal dream without realizing more of the Christ-spirit—more of serenity, joyfulness, and gratitude for the assurance of God's allness and availability. The disciples had been gladdened by their Master's reappearance after his seeming defeat, and he had said unto them, 'Receive ye the Holy Ghost;' yet some of them essayed to go back to their former occupation as fishermen. Despite their skill and their familiarity with conditions pertaining to their trade, that night they caught nothing. They had been with Jesus, had listened to his teachings and had measurably understood them. Did his triumph seem to them too far beyond their ability to follow? But they could not go backward to what they had thought and done before they knew him. Their attempt to do so ended futilely. But in the morning Jesus stood on the shore and called to them. He directed them to cast their net on the right side of the ship. Then in their remarkable success under his guidance they recognized him anew. A morning, bright with love and gratitude, shone on them. They learned that having seen and received the Christ, there could be henceforth for them only a spiritual going forward, loving, proving, triumphing. Whatever night of mortal resistance there might be before them, the light of Christ would lead them through the darkness, and do so again and again, to successive mornings of 'revelation and progress.' As it was with these fishermen disciples, so it is with each one who receives the Christ, Truth, in Christian Science. Though at times one may wander in valleys of depression, where 'weeping may endure for a night,' yet always through prayer and steadfast adherence to Truth the light of fuller revelation comes, a clearer understanding of God and man is won, and in the morning light more of the beauty of holiness is revealed, more of the divine nature assimilated and errors of belief abandoned. So must we progress in the continual acceptance and proof of the truths of Christian Science divinely revealed to us. Christian Science is thus enabling all who seek it to prove this redeeming truth in their daily lives. Whatever sorrow, loss, or want may appear, one can sing with the Psalmist of God's 'lovingkindness in the morning.' Knowing well from her own experience in overcoming the falsities of material sense through spiritual realization, Mrs. Eddy gave the reassuring message to all pilgrims through the night of error (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 276 ): 'Out of the gloom comes the glory of our Lord, and His divine Love is found in affliction. When a false sense suffers, the true sense comes out, and the bridegroom appears. We are then wedded to a purer, higher affection and ideal.' And in the lines preceding these words she says, 'In Christian Science the midnight hour will always be the bridal hour, until 'no night is there.' The wise will have their lamps aglow, and light will illumine the darkness.' If there seems to be present gloom, it will fade before the constant assurance that 'joy cometh in the morning,' the morning of eternal good, wherein true selfhood in Christ is found.Show all

Summit of Aspiration
The test of all prayer lies in the answer to these questions: Do we love our neighbor better because of this asking? Do we pursue the old selfishness, satisfied with having prayed for something better, though we give no evidence of the sincerity of our requests by living consistently with our prayer? If selfishness has given place to kindness, we shall regard our neighbor unselfishly, and bless them that curse us; but we shall never meet this great duty simply by asking that it may be done. We should relieve our minds from the depressing thought that we have transgressed a material law and must of necessity pay the penalty. Let us reassure ourselves with the law of Love. God never punishes man for doing right, for honest labor, or for deeds of kindness, though they expose him to fatigue, cold, heat, contagion. If man seems to incur the penalty through matter, this is but a belief of mortal mind, not an enactment of wisdom, and man has only to enter his protest against this belief in order to annul it. Through this action of thought and its results upon the body, the student will prove to himself, by small beginnings, the grand verities of Christian Science.Show all
Mental Conspirators
Christian Science commands man to master the propensities, — to hold hatred in abeyance with kindness, to conquer lust with chastity, revenge with charity, and to overcome deceit with honesty. Choke these errors in their early stages, if you would not cherish an army of conspirators against health, happiness, and success. They will deliver you to the judge, the arbiter of truth against error. The judge will deliver you to justice, and the sentence of the moral law will be executed upon mortal mind and body. Both will be manacled until the last farthing is paid, — until you have balanced your account with God. 'Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.' The good man finally can overcome his fear of sin. This is sin's necessity, — to destroy itself. Immortal man demonstrates the government of God, good, in which is no power to sin.Show all

Why the desire for happiness; why the faith that there is an infinite intelligence, consistent in its awareness of the Good ? Why the hope..... SEE INDEX

“Worship God & Live by His Values”
"Of Flight and Life" ~ Excerpt It should now be branded on our consciousness that unless science is controlled by a greater moral force, it will become the Antichrist prophesied by early Christians. If we are to keep it from destroying that part of our civilization which is left, if it is to be the great benefit to mankind that we have hoped, we must control it by a philosophy reaching beyond materialism, a philosophy rooted in the character of man and nourished by the eternal truths of God ... The Pathway to Glory ~ William D. Saunders
The Combined Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John Including the Lost Books of the Bible
Compiled by William D. Saunders
This is the story of Jesus of Nazareth, mankind’s greatest benefactor, whose teaching and example is destined to free humanity from every form of evil when understood in its true light, and put into practice.
His story is told by combining the complete text of the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in chronological order. Combining the Gospels in order allows events to be seen in their proper context and not as isolated incidents. The result is a clearer picture of what took place and a deeper insight into the wisdom and practical value of what Jesus taught and lived.
There are two versions of the combined Gospels. Both are arranged in identical chapters and sub-chapters to highlight the subject matter under discussion. The first version presents the four Gospels combined in chronological order without any notes. The second version is the identical except that notes have been added.
The Introduction explains more fully how the Gospels were organized and why the King James Version of 1611 was selected as the source. It is recommended that you read Appendixes 1 and 3 before reading the Gospels as they will make reading this book, and the entire Bible itself, better understood and more enjoyable.
The goal of this book is to enable the reader to experience the Light that Jesus brought for all mankind, the Light that enlightens every man, woman, and child “that cometh into the world,” brighter than before.
