Biography
DR. ROBERT C. PUTNAM is a direct descend­ ant of John Putnam of Salem, Mass., and Aston Abbotts, Buckinghamshire. Edu­cated in Boston and Quincy, Mass., he obtained his Bachelor’s degree at Harvard University in 1936. Subsequently, he ob­tained a Master’s degree from Harvard and a Doctor’s degree from Boston Uni­versity.
His vocation as a research chemist has included positions as chief chemist, re­search director and supervisor of analyti­cal research. He is the author of several patents and technical articles.
His avocation has been Bible study and church work. As a lifetime Christian Scientist he has held many church offices and taught Sunday School for more than twenty years.

In ancient times alphabetical letters were used to form words, and numbers were assigned to the letters. Gematria is the use of Hebrew portions of the Bible interpreted in this manner.
