Mary Baker Eddy Introduction

Mary Baker Eddy’s Biography & Category Index page ~ link above ~ lists a few of her almost infinite number of accomplishments.

Mark Twain said, “by 1900 Mrs. Eddy was probably the most famous woman in America, but definitely the most controversial.  She was obsessed with God.”  “It has been 1,300 years since anyone could reach up to Mrs. Eddy’s waist-belt.  She is the most interesting woman that ever lived, the most extraordinary.”

Mary Baker Eddy was a part of prophesy in both Isaiah and Revelation ~ please refer to Home page link in main menu above.

It is easy to see why she was the subject of so many biographies.

The many biographies of Mary Baker Eddy reveal a life that is absolutely unique, especially considering the world was totally dominated by men.

The value of understanding the history of Christian Science goes hand in hand with understanding the individual challenges Mary Baker Eddy faced and conquered.  It is clear that both her success and the success of the Christian Science Movement was due solely to her absolute reliance on her developing understanding of what God is, what man is, and man’s relationship to God.  Without that development advancing to a high degree, it is clear that the failure so many predicted would have become a reality.

Mary Baker Eddy proved that “one on God’s side is a majority”.

Elisha, the prophet, had proven the very same thing over 2,000 years before as is related in the Bible, II Kings 6: 15-16:

“When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city.  Oh, my lord, what shall we do the servant asked,  Don’t be afraid, the prophet answered.  Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

In times of trial & tribulation, what a wonderful inspiration it is that these two splendid examples can serve the earnest seeker in such a fine fashion.

Below are a few biographies & more will be added later.
